These papers were written in the course of the Fall 1996 semester. The first two are on the novel and movie Being There, author and screenwriter Jerzy Kosinski. The rest, based on Flatland, a late nineteenth-century novella by Edwin A. Abbott, are drafts. These are not perfect papers (I have not gone through correcting errors), but each one offers something useful for the beginning writer.
Note that I try to teach students how to write, not what to think. You will see a wide diversity of attitudes, styles, and subject matter here. Let's celebrate it.
These two papers are revised versions of papers on Flatland:
