You would write "the tall, dark, handsome man," but you would be unlikely
to write "the very, dark, brown hat"--right?
Neither "very" nor "dark"
describe the hat (they both describe the shade of brown), but "tall" and
"dark" and "handsome" do describe the man.
Clear enough, isn't it?
